Reference for the italian 'il viaggio..." and chart is Blair & Robertson's "The Philippine Islands, 1493-1898" volume 33. The entire Pigafetta relacion is in vols.33 & 34. One of the strange characters is a "p" with a small circle at the descender which i was not able to reproduce here. Since I don't speak italian, I don't know if i makes sense to write that as po or op.

I am a Cebuano and in general a Filipino. Based on my recent research, unfortunatelly, I have found out that the battleground where Magellan was slained was not really Mactan but Matan, the western part of Borneo. The leader of the warriors who had slained Magellan belonged to a Lepu Tepu tribe in the Batang Kayan basin and could be Syair Sang Semaun. And the kingdom of Raia Humabon (Riyat Umabong same as Utara, Habagat... a title of the last Majapahit emperor and not a personal name) was Java formerly called with other names as Zabah, Zebu, Zabag, Jawa, Tchepou. This Raia Humabon begot a Muslim title in Brunei as Sultan Bulkeiah while his principal wife, a princess of Sulu, was Layla Manjanay or Leila Menchenei whose Majapahit imperial title was Hara Amihan for the Majapahit rulers at that time were believed to possess the powers of the monsoon winds. Philippines was only part of the Majapahit Empire at that time collectively known as Nusantara, Suvarnadvipa, and Jawa.

Probably Miguel Lopez de Legaspi had miscalculated his destination and mistaken Cebu for Java and Mactan for Matan. Magelang in Java could really be named after Magellan.

Presently I am working on writing a book, an historical novel, or most probably a television mini-series tackling on this matter.

I am hoping that instead of looking the fact with nationalistic egotism everybody who has capacity to work on correcting some mistakes in history and its interpretation will be united in helping finding the truth in building unity in this region at least, if not in this world.

This is like when we learned we learned Christopher Columbus discovered America. He actually sailed farther south and landed on South America. But I guess in their perspective the whole North and South America is America.
